Department of Education Support

The Delaware Department of Education Higher Education Office offers multiple types of financial support.

The following incentives are available to you based on where you are in your education journey:

SEED Scholarship – Receive up to 10 semesters of tuition at DTCC or UD Associates of Arts Program at any age or stage of education including continuing education.

Inspire: 8 semesters of tuition at DSU

Local and national scholarships for high school students entering postsecondary education:

Delaware Institutional Scholarships and Financial Incentives:

Incentives offered by Early Childhood Interim Scholarship Program. Pays the coursework and assessment fees for CDA Scholars or tuition and class fees for early childhood professionals attending a college/university. Early Childhood professionals can earn early childhood credits working toward any of the following:

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential
  • Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education

Incentives offered by the Delaware Department of Education, Office of Higher Education:

  • Critical Need Scholarships – Alternate Route to Certification Teacher Candidates
  • Educator Support Scholarship – Scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students attending a Delaware public or private college.
  • Career Based Scholarship – Scholarships for students in a bachelor’s degree program in a Delaware public or private college in a major leading to a career in a high demand field in Delaware.

Incentives offered by Delaware Colleges and Universities:

Teacher-Candidates enrolled in an approved Alternative Route to Certification (ARTC) program for certification in a high-need area may be eligible for a Critical Need Scholarship.

Service Members and Veterans

In addition to all of the above financial resources, service members and veterans can take advantage of additional resources.

Financial Supports for Delaware Educators – Scholarships and other programs available to Delaware educators.

  • Critical Need Scholarships – Current teachers adding a critical need certification through an approved traditional or Alternate Route to Certification Program.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program and TEACH Grant

SEED Scholarship – Receive up to 10 semesters of tuition at DTCC or UD Associates of Arts Program at any age or stage of education including continuing education.

State Educator Loan Payment Programs: Three state-sponsored loan repayment programs are available. For each program, DHEO will make a one-time payment on behalf of an awarded applicant directly to a student loan lender.
